MTNL Customers in New Delhi have got a reason to rejoice. Those who were desperately waiting to try their hands on 3G services, their long wait is over. Atleast for now, you can try activating 3G services on your 3G compatible handset, if you are from New Delhi and opt to use MTNL as the service provider.
Though with some good news, the launch has come with some bad news too! 🙁 Initially the tariff is not so handsome and may not attract a lot of mobile users towards 3rd Generation mobile technology. The pricing details of 3G services goes as under:
As you can view the tariff clearly, even for activation of 3G services, you need to shell 500 bucks and that is not where the story ends. Apart from it, you need to pay Rs. 599 per month excluding the amount of usages you made during the month. It means even after paying Rs. 599 as monthly 3G charges, the data plans are not that attractive and you will have to make big holes on your pocked for browsing internet on your phone. In this 3G plan introduced by MTNL you will have to spend 5 bucks for each MB of data usage.
Though, initially the 3G usage charges are too hefty and high, I am still optimist that, with the passage of time and with the introduction of 3G by other private operators, the charges will come down drastically. All we have to do now is just wait and watch, till 3G license is being issued to other private players. 🙂
