After TATA and MTS, BSNL Launches Pay-per-Second Plan!

bsnl mobile “Pay per second” scheme is quite popular among Indian mobile users is evident from the fact that, each and every mobile operators are considering of rolling out the same scheme for their customers as well. Initially launched by TATA DoCoMo, “pay-per-second” plan claims of charging only for the number of seconds a customer talk. For example, a user talks for just 26 seconds, then he need to pay for 26 seconds only instead of the typical system of paying for an entire minute of usage.

Finally, after DoCoMo and MTS, even BSNL have rolled out the “pay per second” scheme too. Details of the plan are as follows:

Details of BSNL Pay-per-second plan:

  • Initially scheme available for BSNL customers in Karnataka circle only
  • To avail pay-per-second plan, customer needs to recharge with STV (Special Tariff Voucher) worth Rs. 54 every month
  • Scheme applicable for new customers with “Bindas 54” connections only
  • Charge for calls to any local network – 1ps/1 second
  • Charge for calls to any STD network/number – 2ps/1 second
  • Other tariffs are applicable as per usual rates

We say: It seems it won’t take other private networks (like Airtel and Vodafone) too long to launch a similar plan. So, if you do not own a BSNL number or you are from outside Karnataka, do not regret for it, hopefully your mobile operator will be coming up with a similar plan very shortly! 😉

    I guess in a few months everyone will be charging per second basis. But what I want to really see if they will allow numbers to migrate from one operator to another. I guess for that there maybe a need for customers to sign contracts which might reduce prices especially in the 3G sector.

      @Aditya
      Yes, migrating from one operator to another retaining your previous number will be possible once MNP (mobile number portability) is implemented in India. And most probably Indian users may witness MNP by mid 2010!

    bsnl is crap. it asks you to use voucher every month to avail the settings, while , other operators avail this facility forever!.. this is quite awkward..
