The Honor 8S has been launched in China as Honor Play 8 for a super affordable price of 599 Yuan which is approximately INR 5970. The smartphone comes with a water drop notch display, single rear camera and a decent processor for that price tag.
Honor Play 8 Specifications
The Honor Play 8 measures 8.5 mm thickness with an overall weight of 146g. The display on the device is 5.71 inch LCD screen having a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display here features 720 X 1520 pixels which produce 295 PPI as pixel density. Android 9 Pie is the choice of the operating system having EMUI 9.0 lite on top.
Inside is where you find the Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset on an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz along with the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The device allows memory expansion up to 1 TB via micro SD cards. By default, the phone comes in two storage variants of 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory and 3GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory.
As far as the optics are concerned, Honor play 8 comes with a single 13-megapixel rear camera having f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera also supports HDR and comes with a single LED flash. Connectivity options on the phone include 3.5 mm audio jack, WLAN, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and micro USB 2.0. The Honor play 8 lacks a fingerprint sensor but does equip other sensors like accelerometer and proximity. Since there is no fingerprint scanner on the device the Honor Play 8 users will have to solely rely on its AI face unlock for user authentication.
The budget-oriented smartphone from Honor is powered by a non-removable 3020 mAh battery which lacks fast charging. The phone is available to users in black, gold and blue colors to choose from.
Honor Play 8 Pricing and Availablity
The Honor Play 8 will be retailing in China for 599 Yuan which is approximately INR 5970. As of now, there is no word whether the device will arrive in India or not.
Honor is also geared up to launch its Honor 9X with a pop-up selfie camera and Kirin 810 chipset. The Honor 9X would feature a 6.7-inch full HD+ display. On the front side, you will get a selfie shooter worth 20 megapixels and the phone shall draw power from a 3,750 mAh battery. The battery also supports 10W fast charging out of the box.
