Reliance Jio Announced World's First 4G VOLTE Feature Phone : All You Need To Know

Reliance Jio today at the 40^th AGM announced the launch of world’s first 4G VOLTE feature phone. The feature phone is branded as JioPhone which is also aliased as “India Ka Smartphone” with support for 22 Indian languages. This feature phone as per the company will not only be able to make calls but will also allow users to browse the internet with their 4G speed. The feature phone is practically free but consumers have to pay a fully refundable security deposit of Rs. 1500, the same will be refunded after 3 years upon successfully returning the handset.

JioPhone will have free voice, unlimited data, free SMS’s but also have access and support for some Jio apps like Jio Cinema, Jio TV, and Jio Music. Users will have two options where they can pay Rs. 153 per month to get free voice, free SMS and unlimited data. Or they can opt for the 309 plan which apart from the regular benefits lets you connect the phone to a television to access content on the same. It’s also supposed to get connectivity to CRT monitors as well. Apart from the above plans, Reliance also provides sachet packs of Rs. 24 for two days, Rs. 54 for a week.

The company will begin beta testing which will start from August 15^th followed by Pre-bookings from August 24th, and the handsets will be delivered effectively from September 1st onwards on the first-come-first-serve basis.

JioPhone will also feature a dedicated button to access voice assistant using which consumers can trigger voice activated commands to browse the internet, use Jio apps, call, message and more. For security or emergency purpose, long pressing the number 5 on the keypad would send messages to a few pre fed contacts saved.

Jio phone will also feature NFC support for using NFC enabled payment method with support for UPI payments, Debit card, and Credit card payments something similar to Samsung Pay.
