The tablet is a successor to the last year’s Galaxy Tab 8.0 launched in September 2018.

The tablets come in two variants, Wi-Fi only and LTE models. The tablets measures 8 mm in thickness whereas the Wi-Fi only model weighs 345g and the LTE model weighs 347g. The display is an 8-inch WXGA TFT screen having a screen resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. The device packs in dual speakers along with Snapdragon 429 chipset on a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz.
The tablet shall be running Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. It would have a dedicated memory expansion slot which can increase the memory up to 512 GB via micro SD card. By default, the device offers 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The galaxy tab gets its power from a 5,100 mAh battery and also features an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and 2-megapixel front-facing selfie shooter. The front facing camera could have been improved in order to get the advantage of better pictures while in a video conferencing.
For connectivity, it sports Wi-Fi a/b/g/n 2.4GHz/5GHz, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0. It is also equipped with an accelerometer and light sensor. The tablet features a sleek metallic design which gives it a premium look and feels. The device is comfortable to grip and hold in with one hand.
