BlackBerry announces budget-friendly Q5 with a QWERTY keyboard

On Tuesday at the BlackBerry Live event in Orlando, CEO Thorsten Heins announced BlackBerry Q5 – a QWERTY phone running on BlackBerry 10. At the same event, we also saw announcement of BBM’s app coming to Andorid and iOS. Going by the various colours it will be available in, the device is targeted towards BB’s budget-minded youth users. It will come in red, white, black and pink.

Above the prestigious BB-style QWERTY keyboard, you’ll find a 3.1-inch (720 x 720 pixels) touchscreen. The Q5 is powered by a  Dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. A 5-megapixel rear camera will be present. BB failed to provide more detailed specs at the event.

BB Q5 will launch in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America starting in July. No information about prices has been given yet.

    I hope it won’t be like BlackBerry 9220. It just had BB OS 7 and nothing else. Everything about the phone really sucked. Thank god I’m back to Android. 🙂
