Xiaomi Mi A1 Launched in India under Android One Initiative

With Google’s Android One initiative Xiaomi has brought the Mi A1 to India with a price tag of Rs. 14999. Though the highlight here is the stock Android interface (No MIUI), Xiaomi yet retained a few Mi apps like the Mi Camera, Mi Remote, Mi store apps and a dedicated Mi services sections under setting. It is also being claimed that device would get Android Oreo update right on time along with Android P update as and when available next year.

Xiaomi Mi A1 sports a 5.5 inch LTPS IPS LCD display with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a collective pixel density of 403 PPI. With full metal body and finger print resistant coating it measures 7.3 mm in thickness and a combined weight of 165 grams which is pretty impressive for that display size. It also features a 2.5D curved glass and Corning gorilla glass on the top but the version isn’t specific as of now.

Out of the box, you will get Android 7.1.2 nougat and under the Android One initiative you will get timely updates to Android 8.0 Oreo and Android P as and when available. These OTA software updates will be passed on to the Mi A1 alongside other Google specific smart phones.

Under the hood, you have the Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset on an Octa Core Cortex A53 chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. You also get 4GB of RAM with 64 GB onboard storage which is expandable via micro SD card up to 128 GB.

 

Based on the Mi 5X design aspects you get a dual 12 MP rear camera on the back. The first camera is having a wide angle lens with 1.25-micron pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, and the latter is a telephoto lens with 1-micron pixel size, f/2.6 aperture which is capable of 2X optical zoom. You also get portrait mode for bokeh effects. On the front, you have a 5 MP snapper with real time beautification mode which is also capable of recording 1080p videos out of the box.

Connectivity features include WiFI, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack, Infra red port, FM Radio and USB 2.0 type C. You also get a rear mounted finger print sensor along with accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors on the front. Audio output through the 3.5 mm audio jack has also been enhanced using a dedicated amplifier and DIRAC HD sound which offers high fidelity audio experience with boosted volumes and deeper lows.

The battery on the same is a non-removable 3080 mAh battery which does support fast charging. Will be a Flipkart India exclusive with Gold and Black colours to choose from.
