Sharp Aquos R3 Launched with Snapdragon 855 and Dual Notch

Last year it was the Aquos R2 compact from the Japan-based tech giant Sharp which had a dual notch offering.

Quick Look at Aquos R2 Compact from Sharp

It featured 5.2 inch IPS LCD display having 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution. The display produces 485 PPI as pixel density. With corning gorilla glass 3, the phone supported 120 Hz refresh rate.

The phone has Android 9 Pie baked in with Snapdragon 845 chipset on an Octa-Core CPU coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The phone only had 64GB internal memory and 4 GB of RAM but was further expandable up to 512 GB via microSD card.

On the rear side, it had a single 22.6 MP snapper having f/1.9 aperture. On the rear, it had an 8 MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture. The phone had support for Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos as well.

Connectivity features include WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB Type C. Fingerprint sensor was rear mounted along with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass sensors on board. It was powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery which supports Fast battery charging of 18W.

Yet again with Aquos R3 users would have two notches in the front. The top-notch houses in the sensors. camera and the bottom notch houses the fingerprint sensor which also acts as a home button. The Sharp Aquos R3 features a 6.2-inch Pro IGZO panel that has 3120 x 1440-pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz making the phone really smooth. The display also supports HDR10 and Dolby vision. The 16.3 MP selfie camera is in the top front notch.

On the rear side, the Aquos R3 sports a dual camera setup placed vertically in the top-left corner. This setup combines one 12.2MP (f/1.7, 78-degree FOV) unit used for still photography, and a 20MP (f/2.4, 125-degree FOV) module for video recording. The smartphone also comes with AI-based camera features like AI Live Story and AI Live Shutter.

With 128 GB onboard storage and 6 GB of RAM, the phone is powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with Adreno 640 GPU which makes it a flagship offering. It retails with a 3,200 mAh battery having support for 11W Qi wireless charging. In terms of audio, the Aquos R3 features stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support.
